As we near the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Helene, the strength and resilience of the community in Bat Cave and Chimney Rock shine through. The storm caused extensive damage, especially to concrete structures, leaving many homes and businesses in dire need of repair. In effort to stand alongside our Western, North Carolina neighbors, we are thrilled to announce a $10,000 concrete giveaway designed to assist those still affected by the hurricane.

This initiative transcends the distribution of concrete services; it’s about uniting as a community to uplift each other in these continually challenging times. Additionally, we are rolling out a GoFundMe campaign to enable everyone to contribute to this cause. By coming together, we can truly make a difference and support our neighbors on their path to recovery.

The Impact of Hurricane Helene

Hurricane Helene was a disaster that left an undeniable impact on our community. Many families faced the overwhelming challenge of repairing their homes and businesses, with concrete damage being one of the most prevalent issues. In the aftermath, we witnessed a staggering number of local residents with some form of concrete damage.

Last year, we jumped in to help, channeling our resources and expertise to aid those affected. We successfully raised $30,000, providing direct assistance to and gathering donations for dozens of families and businesses. This year, we aim to keep that momentum of recovery going strong.

How the Concrete Giveaway Works

We invite community members to nominate individuals who are still grappling with the effects of Hurricane Helene. If you or someone you know is dealing with concrete damage at home, in a business, or in shared community spaces, we want to hear your stories. You can nominate someone by filling out our Google Form.

To increase a nominee’s chances of being selected, include as much information and as many photos as you can. All nominations will be treated confidentially, and a committee will carefully review each submission. We will announce the winner on September 26th, 2025, just before the anniversary.
